Alternatives
A Google Alerts alternative that sees where your product is discussed
Google Alerts is free and good at news. It rarely catches the Hacker News thread, the Bluesky post or the YouTube review where people actually talk about a product. EchoMention watches those places and sends everything in one digest to your team chat.

Why people outgrow Google Alerts
Google Alerts sends what Google's index finds for your query, by e-mail, as it happens, at most once a day or at most once a week. For a product brand that has three gaps:
- Community discussion is thin: Hacker News comments, Bluesky posts and YouTube video descriptions are where small products get discussed, and they rarely show up.
- It only speaks e-mail. Teams that live in Slack or Discord end up forwarding alerts by hand.
- There is no sentiment, no exclusion list per keyword and no history you can browse.
What EchoMention does instead
- Checks Google News, RSS feeds, Hacker News, Bluesky, YouTube, public Telegram channels and Reddit via web search.
- Each keyword has spelling variants and exclusions, so “Rust” the language does not match a rusty bike chain.
- Every mention is scored positive, neutral or negative (a lexicon model for English and Russian).
- One daily digest goes to Slack, Discord, Telegram or e-mail; all mentions stay in the dashboard.
When Google Alerts is still enough
If you only care about news articles and web pages and you are happy reading e-mail, keep Google Alerts: it is free. Many teams run both. EchoMention is for the conversations Google Alerts does not surface.

Frequently asked questions
Is EchoMention free like Google Alerts?
Yes. The Free plan monitors 1 keyword on Google News and Hacker News and sends a weekly e-mail digest, with 7 days of history. No credit card is needed. Pro ($19/month) adds every source, a daily digest and Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery.
Can I import my Google Alerts?
There is no automatic import. Add each alert as a keyword: put the alert text in Terms, add any spelling variants on separate lines and words to ignore in Exclude.
Does EchoMention monitor X/Twitter, Instagram or TikTok?
No. EchoMention does not cover X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn. It focuses on news, blogs, Hacker News, Bluesky, YouTube, public Telegram channels and sites in the web search index such as Reddit, G2 and Trustpilot. If social networks are your main channel, a social listening suite is a better fit.
How does Reddit monitoring work?
Through the Web search source (Pro and Business): EchoMention queries the Brave Search index with site:reddit.com, so it does not depend on Reddit's API, which Reddit is closing by March 2027. New threads usually appear once the index has picked them up, typically within a day, so it is not real-time.
