Monitor Hacker News mentions of your product
A Hacker News thread can send thousands of visitors, and a critical comment can sit at the top for a day before anyone on your team sees it. EchoMention checks HN for your keywords and puts every new story and comment in your digest.

How Hacker News monitoring works
- EchoMention searches Hacker News through the public Algolia HN Search API for every term of your keywords.
- Stories are always included; comments can be switched on or off in the source settings.
- Each mention links straight to the item on news.ycombinator.com and gets a sentiment score.
- Hacker News is available on every plan, including Free.
Good keywords for HN
Add your product name, your domain (e.g. example.com) and the names of competitors. For names that are also common words, add exclusions: a keyword “Linear” with exclusions like “linear algebra” and “linear regression” removes most noise.
Answer while the thread is still alive
Most HN threads are active for a day. A daily digest in Slack is usually enough to join the discussion in time; Business plans also check for negative mentions every 30 minutes and alert you right away.
